Choosing your Celebrant
Your Wedding Ceremony
Your wedding ceremony should be unique and should reflect you and your partner.
When choosing your celebrant you need to feel comfortable with them, asking lots of questions via email or by a phone call will give you an indication of how the celebrant works.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions i.e. how long have they been a celebrant, do they have feedback you can view from past couples, how many ceremonies have they performed ,do they have a PA system which will allow all your guests to hear the ceremony, is their quote all inclusive ,what do they include?
Is a rehearsal included (I would always recommend a rehearsal if possible as it allows everyone to feel comfortable with their role within your ceremony i.e. where they stand .how they make their entrance and what part they are playing in the ceremony whether they are taking part in a sub ceremony within the wedding ceremony or reading) It also means you will come to your ceremony more relaxed and will know what to expect so therefore will enjoy your ceremony more.
Your wedding ceremony is the main event of your day, the part which actually makes you husband and wife and your choice of celebrant can have a big impact.
You will need to have engaged your celebrant and filled in the document The Intention to Marry Form at least 1 month and 1 day before your wedding day to allow the legal requirements to be completed.
You do have certain legal aspects which are mandatory to make your marriage legal but you should also be given lots of choice and input into your ceremony.
This is the main reason couples are choosing a civil ceremony in order to have a unique and personal ceremony.
Your wedding day is such a special day in your life and as a Civil Marriage Celebrant I am always greatly honoured when I am invited to perform a couples wedding ceremony and be part of such a precious day which will create long lasting and unique memories.
I wish you well with all your exciting plans.
